Dear Parents, This week in Reading Street we started Unit 3 which will focus on “How do changes affect us?” For week 1 we are working on the book, “Little Panda”, and were introduced to 3 new sight words: “she”, “with”, “me”. Please continue to work with your child on the following sight words: “he”, “for”, “we, my, like”, “have”, “is”, ”to”, “a”, “the”, “little”, “I”, and “am”. 2nd Quarter Report Card Testing: It is that time again. We will be testing each child for 2nd quarter report cards. They must know all 26 letters, sounds of the alphabet, writing the letter correctly, counting to 100 by 1’s, and counting up to 20 objects (toys, etc...). We only have 8 school days with each group before 2nd Quarter Report Cards are due. We have begun testing all Kindergarten for the end of 2nd quarter skills. Assessments are 1 on 1 with each child and take up to 25 minutes each. If your child comes home with papers that do not have a smiley face on it, please understand. We are working very hard to complete all required instruction for the day, and all report card testing each day, and may not get to check every child’s paper until we are finished with testing. Parents we need your help to make our Holiday party a success! REMINDER: If you send in treats for the party, West Clermont Regulates they MUST be store bought with list of ingredients. This is a safety measure for ALL children. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Wells’ class has a PEANUT allergy. Kindergarten has earned their marbles for good behavior!! To Celebrate, we will have a pajama movie day. To help limit the time of instruction time lost, we will have the PJ party on the same day as our Christmas Party. Your child may wear their favorite PJ’s on the below dates. They are also allowed to bring in a small blanket and one small stuffed toy. We will be watching the movie, “The Polar Express” that morning. Christmas Party and PJ party Dates: (Parents/Grandparents are welcome to attend the Christmas Party starting at 1:00 for set up, and 1:30 for the party. ) • Group A’s PJ and Holiday Party will be held on December 19th , Holiday party is from 1:30p.m. -2:30 p.m. • Group B’s PJ and Holiday Party will be held on December 21st , Holiday party is from 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m Reminder: We are having a book exchange for our Christmas party this year. Each child is to bring in a new book that is wrapped. Please do not let the value of the book go over $5. We will play a musical chair’s game with the books, and every child will leave with a new book to take home over the holiday. It is important to make sure the book is wrapped and has your child’s first and last name on the wrapping paper under the “From”. Please leave the “To” blank. All Books are due to be turned in no later than Tuesday, December 18th. If you are ordering a book from the Scholastic Book Fair Online orders, they must be in by December 7th, so that we can have them delivered before the Christmas exchange. Dates to Remember: Friday, December 14th: Group A (Monday-Wednesday Children) will attend. Tuesday, December 18th: ALL books for the Kindergarten book exchange need to be turned in for our party. Wednesday, December 19th Group A (Monday-Wednesday Children) will have their Holiday Party and PJ Party! Friday, December 21st : Group B (Tuesday – Thursday Children) will attend and have their Holiday Party and PJ Party! December 22nd –January 1st: Winter Break!!!! NO School Wednesday, January 2nd: 1st day back to school for Group A (Monday/Wednesday Children will attend) Thursday, January 3rd: 1st day back to school for Group B (Tuesday/Thursday
