Mrs. Wells' KinderLION News October 22-26, 2012
Dear Parents,
This week we are working on the Reading Street, Unit 2, week 1, “Flowers!” Our new Big Idea concept for Unit 2 is “How are animals and plants unique?” We introduced two new sight words, “have”, and “is”. Please continue to review the sight words ”to” “a” “the” “little”, “I”, and “am”. Please also work with your child on recognizing these words and the letters, sounds of the alphabet.
Red Ribbon Week…. Thanks for helping us make Red Ribbon Week so wonderful! We have had children dress in Red on Monday, in their PJ’s on Tuesday, wear hats on Wednesday! Thursday students are to wear boots to stamp out drugs, and on Friday, we are all to wear our blue and white spirit wear!
On Tuesday we had a very special treat. We had Officer Patton come to our school with a special Police Dog. We talked about stranger danger. They also talked about being safe and wearing seat belts, and saying “No” to drugs.
On Wednesday, we had celebrities at our school. Author, Nancy Orlando and Illustrator, Debbi Kern(former Art Teacher from Amelia Elementary), came to read their new book, “Good Grief It’s Winter”. Debbi and Nancy read their new book to our students, and acted out scenes. They gave each child a mask to decorate and a color sheet from their book!
